The Ultimate Spring Cleaning Guide

Spring Cleaning

Deep cleaning your home starts with a proper cleaning schedule. As you have to clean each room of your house, including garages and attics, you should ensure that you have enough time to complete the whole task without any obstacles.

In this blog, you will get a checklist to help you tick off each task when you are planning to deep clean your home.

Decluttering

Before cleaning starts, you have to remove garbage from all the rooms. It’s a huge task that can be time-consuming but makes your cleaning process easier. You have to dedicate sufficient time to decluttering your rooms and throwing away unwanted items.

While you’re at it, you should also separate the unused items that can be used for recycling. During the entire decluttering process, you will obtain a lot of waste which also comes from organising your wardrobes. Collect all the waste and use skip bin hire services so that you get a skip bin. You can dump the waste as per instructions into the bin. Hiring a bin will help you remove garbage and unwanted items from your home easily.

Deep Clean the Carpets

Carpet Cleanig

Carpets and rugs attract and collect a lot of dust including your pet’s hair, mud, dead insects, etc. Deep cleaning carpets is a compulsory task that is essential to maintain good air quality inside your home. Also, regular carpet cleaning will increase the longevity of the material.

If you can deep clean carpets by yourself (provided you have sufficient tools and knowledge), you can go ahead. Otherwise, you can hire professionals to do the work for you.

Furniture Maintenance and Repair

During the cleaning, observe every piece of furniture around your home and make a list of repairs that need to be done. Do you need to repair leather sofas and furniture? Or do you need to remove broken and heavily damaged furniture? Notice the extent of damage and know whether you can repair them or need to replace them.

There’s usually no need to replace the furniture every time you deep clean your home, however, it’s important to check for repairs and damage so that your furniture seems new and refreshed.

Pay Attention to Walls and Other Surfaces

Daily cleaning schedule may consist of vacuuming only your floors. During the deep cleaning, you should ensure to dust off walls, ceilings, and other not-so-easy-to-reach places. Before starting, make sure to collect the necessary equipment so that you can do work without any hassle. Do each room after each one and make sure to take small breaks so that your energy is maintained throughout the task.

Sanitise Door Knobs and Handles

Thanks to COVID-19, everyone has become conscious about touching commonly used surfaces such as handles and knobs. As you sanitise each time you touch anything outside your home, you should also sanitise the door knobs and handles of every single door of your home. It will remove dust, germs, grime, etc., that is collected over time on these surfaces. It will also make things shiny and gives a deep clean look to your home.

Dust Off Lighting Fixtures

When you are cleaning ceilings and elevated surfaces, make sure to dust off lighting fixtures as well. These are one of the things in your home that collect dust over time and if you are not cleaning them regularly, the interiors can become unhygienic. Dust off the fixtures to make sure the dirt is completely removed and the light can illuminate to its maximum.

If you are not deep cleaning regularly, there might be some surfaces at your home that collect grime and dust at an extreme level. Normal cleaning methods may not work on them to remove the dust completely. So, you can consider power washing those surfaces so that the grime is washed off without much effort.
